# How to convert your in-app tokens to on-chain tokens

When you get other people’s collective tokens through the Livetree app, the token is referred to as “in-app” and needs to be converted to “on-chain” so you are able to participate in the collective governance of that collective on the blockchain. You can convert your in-app tokens to on-chain tokens by following this simple steps<br>

Step 1: Log in to your collective

Step 2: On the left side panel of your screen, look out for the collective whose token you purchased under “My collective membership coins”&#x20;

Step 3: Click on the collective you’d like to convert the in-app coins to “on-chain” and hit “convert” button

Step 4: On the “#Collective Membership Token Buy-in” section, hit “Continue to step 1” button and wait a few seconds. You should see the number of tokens you bought in SEDC equivalent

Step 5: Hit “Send coins # to my MetaMask Wallet!” button and wait a few seconds

Step 6: Hit “Show SEDC in my MetaMask wallet” and hit “Add Token” button on MetaMask when it appears

\ <mark style="background-color:green;">**Success!**</mark> Your in-app tokens has now been converted to “on-chain” tokens
